OTG was founded by Ebon Smylie on his 28th birthday, May 8, 2017. Born in Fernie and raised in Jaffray and Cranbrook, Ebon embarked on a career in plumbing and earned his red seal certification while also becoming a journeyman gas fitter.
Ebon's journey took a significant turn when he decided to transition fully into the solar industry after completing a solar PV installation course through the Canadian Solar Institute. He further prepared himself by enrolling in a self-employment program through Work BC, which not only helped him craft a solid business plan but also secured a business loan through Community Futures.
This support allowed Ebon to launch OTG, a venture that has proven to be the best decision of his life. Seven years later, OTG continues to thrive, providing exceptional solar solutions and making a lasting impact on the renewable energy landscape.
